Questions & answers

Who can get a backpack?
Any local family with school-age kids. It's free and first-come by registration — no income forms, no questions.
Do I have to register?
Registration is strongly encouraged — it reserves your family a pickup time and helps us avoid running out. Walk-ups welcome while supplies last.
What if I don't get a spot?
Register anyway — if we reach 500, you'll join the waitlist with first priority if more backpacks come in or at our next event. Walk-ups are welcome while supplies last.
Is the laundry really free?
Yes — free washes and dryers from 7 AM to Noon, unlimited loads per family. Just bring your own detergent.
Do I need to bring detergent?
Yes, please bring your own detergent. The washers and dryers are free during the event window — you just bring the soap.
¿Se habla español?
Sí. We'll have bilingual greeters and helpers all morning.
Where do I park?
At Wash Bodega, 6604 W Bellfort Ave. Follow volunteer signs; please don't block the drive lanes.
Can I sponsor supplies instead of money?
Absolutely. The easiest way is our public Walmart registry — pick any item and it ships straight to Reach One 713 for the drive (the registry button is in the Sponsor section above). Other in-kind donations like water, snacks, printing, tents, and signage are welcome too — tell us in the sponsor form and we'll coordinate.
How does my business sponsor the drive?
Download the sponsorship letter in the Sponsor section — it has the levels ($500 Community Champion, $200 Neighborhood Leader, $100 Block Supporter, or any amount; every $20 fills a backpack) and how to give. Checks are payable to Reach One 713, or write us through the sponsor form and we'll arrange pickup or digital payment.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Charitable donations are made to Reach One 713, a 501(c)(3) (EIN 85-1291895), and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Wash Bodega hosts and sponsors the event but does not collect charitable donations.
Who runs the donation process?
Reach One 713, our nonprofit partner, handles all charitable donations. Wash Bodega hosts and sponsors the event and provides the space and free laundry.
Can businesses send volunteers?
Yes — sponsoring businesses and local teams are welcome to volunteer on event day. Fill out the volunteer form or ask in the sponsor form, and we'll share roles and shift details.
Will photos or video be taken?
This is a public community event, so photos and video may be taken for recap and thank-you posts. Let a volunteer know if you'd prefer not to be photographed and we'll respect it.
